STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — After 33 years, friends and former classmates are hoping they can give the victim of one of Staten Island's most notorious unsolved homicide cases a headstone.

Euphemia (Effie) Johnson was only 20 years old when she was brutally hogtied, strangled, wrapped in a blanket and shot in the groin inside of her boyfriend's house on Winant Street in Elm Park. At the time of her death, Johnson was a senior and star soccer player at New Dorp High School.
